About Me

They say to find your own itch that needs to be scratched. We needed a good, sturdy hose guide so we wouldn't tear up our impatiens, so I made my own. I'll make one for you, too!

Don't "hose" your impatiens!

I was laid off from my job back in April. Since then, I have dutifully been seeking employment so as to support my family. When I'm not searching for jobs, networking and sending out resumes, I keep my mind from going idle by looking for projects to do around the house.

My mom, who could stick a broomstick in the ground and grow a tree, used to have these really cool hose guides which were just a piece of metal rod bent into a circle where both ends of the rod stuck into the ground. I couldn't find these hose guides online or at the big box home improvement stores, so I made my own. I gave some to my neighbors and they said, "you should sell these things!" If I can sell 500 units a month, we might be able to survive in this economy, and my upper body would probably start lookin' good!

There ain't no math or precision in these hose guides... just a solid rod of rebar bent by hand and encased with a thick rubber tube. I call 'em Bohemian because my dad's friend, Harvey (yes, real name) used to call us all a bunch of Bohemians when we all went deer hunting together. We're all of Czech decent. Growing up, Bohemian kind of meant making due with what you have.

I try to make these things as pretty as I can -- they're nowhere near perfect, but they get the job done! They are hand-crafted and end up kind of like a caddywhompus circle, so that just makes each one unique. If I were to die, you could probably get $11 for one of these custom gems!
